During 50/90 2011, Rob threw down the gauntlet and challenged the community to create one chord songs. This was my answer. [One chord played on the main guitar and core of the song, but the bass informs other chords. In other words, I cheated.]
For those keeping track at home, the chord here is 'B5' (or, the 'B' power chord). The main guitar is playing that, and only that. The rest of the instrumentation, well, doesn't.
In my head, it made sense that a one chord song should be one minute long.
lyrics
At breakpoint, brake check
Snap your neck at the sight
Who cares who tries
You know what's wrong or right
Better to have never had
than to know what you lost
Take heart, sweat heart
you can't make it if
You're holding on
You're holding on
You're holding on
High tide, go inside
cover your ears to the sound
Fall down, break up
smash yourself to the ground
Close eyes, bow your head
Say a little prayer
Give up just a little
If you think you can
Hold On
Just holding on
Just holding on
